Bridport is a unique town and there are many reasons why people love it, one being its diversity, with people from all walks of life living and working here.
It lies within striking distance of a spectacular stretch of undeveloped coastline, wonderful for fishing, walking and searching for fossils.
A twice weekly market, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, runs all along East Street and down South Street, with stalls selling bric a brac, vintage clothes, antiques, and crafts. There is also a monthly Farmers' Market for organic local produce; cheeses, home-reared meat, line-caught fish and an array of home-made jams and other gastronomic treats.
Much used and highly valued by local people are the following venues:
a fine Georgian Arts Centre which hosts art exhibitions, poetry slams, films, theatre and with a courtyard cafe.
the Electric Palace , a superbly restored cinema complete with bar, murals, art deco interior and wonderful accoustics.
the newly established Lyric Theatre, an historic building now home to Stuff and Nonsense, an innovative puppet and theatre company.
